WELCOME
Into Africa 2006. This
website chronicles the adventures of a group of
British students as they prepared for, and then
travelled to, Namibia, Botswana and Zambia.
Their school, Coopers’
Company & Coborn, has a long tradition of travelling
abroad on trips which are best described as challenging,
of benefit to the third world and of the kind that
attempt to give something to those local communities.
In recent years expeditions have been
organised to three different continents ~ Bolivia; Fiji
(having spent some weeks beforehand sailing aboard the
tallship Soren Larsen) and latterly to Namibia in 2004.
Supported by enthusiastic staff who
foster a spirit of adventure (and give their time voluntarily)
these trips provide a life changing experience for many
students. Living and working as a team, before, during
and after the expedition helps prepare them for the
challenges of the real world. The sense of camaraderie
they develop alongside the tangible achievements that
their projects deliver makes for an unforgettable experience.
Their trip built on the friendships
made on the 2004 expedition to Namibia. Journeying
through three African countries, it concluded with
a community project in Zambia.
